FPV Camera and Video-Link Options: A Configuration Checklist for Buyers

An FPV camera and video transmitter should be specified as part of a complete viewing system. For civilian filming, training and recreational builds, start by describing what the operator needs to see and which receiving equipment is already available. This is more useful than selecting a camera and transmitter independently from a list of options.

Define the complete video path

List the camera, video transmitter or air unit, antenna, receiver or goggles, and flight controller. Identify the exact model of each component. Betaflight's documentation distinguishes analog and digital video systems, with different integration arrangements. [1] A shared frequency label alone should not be treated as a complete compatibility check.

For a digital configuration, consult the manufacturer's supported-device information. DJI's O3 Air Unit support page, for example, specifies compatible goggles and a supported flight-control system. [2] This illustrates why “digital VTX” needs a model-level definition; it is not a promise that any digital camera, air unit and goggles will work together.

Separate video from configuration controls

Confirm the camera's video output and the transmitter's input requirements. Then check whether remote adjustment of transmitter settings is needed. Betaflight documents SmartAudio and IRC Tramp as ways to control supported VTX settings through the flight controller. [1] A control-protocol label does not, by itself, confirm the entire camera-to-goggles combination.

The ArcoSky brochure includes a Glyph V4 5.8GHz 5W VTX entry with 7–36V input, an MMCX connector and IRC Tramp support. Use those as fields to verify for that exact model. They should not be copied automatically to another transmitter variant or treated as a guaranteed transmission distance.

Turn optional equipment into a defined order

An options list is a starting point for discussion. Specify the selected camera model, video system, required power supply, mounting arrangement and included accessories in the final configuration. For a thermal or AI-labelled option, request the actual model and documented functions rather than assuming capabilities from the category name.

Illustrative planning scenario

The following is a fictional planning example, not an ArcoSky customer case or test result. A small filming team already owns FPV goggles and wants to compare two camera packages. Its enquiry lists the goggles model first, then asks for a confirmed camera-and-transmitter pairing, mounting details and a clear included-parts list. No range or image-quality result is assumed before the configuration is verified.

When contacting ArcoSky, share your existing viewing equipment and intended use alongside the requested drone model. Keeping optional items separate from the standard package makes quotations easier to compare and helps ensure that the agreed configuration is clearly recorded.
